Gentleman Jim Richards To Race iconic rS500 At 2017 Silverstone classic.
Multiple Australian Touring Car Champion, seven time Bathurst winner and all round Racing Legend, Gentleman Jim Richards, will be joining us at the 2017 Silverstone Classic.
He will be driving the iconic Bastos liveried 1989 Spa 24hr winning Eggenberger Ford Sierra RS500 driven by Percy, Brancatelli, Schneider.
Jim Richards secured the first of his 21 championship titles in his homeland New Zealand back in 1972. Dominating saloon car racing there until he moved to the Australian tracks in 1976.
Having reasonable success initially for Ford. His main success came when he started racing BMW's securing 4 championship's using both the 635Csi and E30 M3. Then 2 Touring Car Championships with the mighty Nissan Skyline GTR.
He also became prolific Porsche racer finishing in the top three of 10 championships between 1995 and 2009, winning 6 titles.
As for Bathurst, 6 of his wins he was partnered with Australian Touring Car Legends Peter Brock, 1978 - 1980, and Mark Skaife, 1991, 1992 and finally in 2002.
His seventh Bathurst win was alongside the Swede, Rickard Rydell in the Volvo s40 when the supertourers went to Mount Panorama in 1998.
Jim Richards has only driven the Seirra RS500 briefly in the past, so everyone is looking to see how he will fair in the iconic Bastos liveried car, now owned by Peter Sturgeon in New Zealand.
