History
This car is purported to be the car that Tony Longhurst drove in the 1993 FIA Touring Car Challenge at Monza having been used in the Campionato Italiano Superturismo previously that year. In 1994 it was acquired by BMW Motorsport Australia and raced by Longhurst in the Australian Class II Championship, and later in the Bathurst 1000 by John Blanchard and Warwick Rooklyn. Updated to 1995 spec, it was raced by its new owner Steven Ellery in the 1995 Australian Class II Championship. Later that year it was sold to Cameron McLean who used it in the Clipsal Super Touring Car Trophy. McLean continued racing the car in 1996 in the renamed Australian Super Touring Championship. Its next race was the 1997 Bathurst 1000 in the hands of Jim Cornish, Nigel Barclay and Blair Smith. Smith would also drive the car in the final rounds of the Australian Super Touring Championship. Acquired by Anthony Robinson in 1998. Robinson would share the car with Craig Bradshaw in the Australian Super Touring Championship. Ric Shaw joined Robinson for that year's Bathurst 1000.
Robinson would race the car for the opening two meetings of the 1999 Australian Super Touring Championship with Allan Letcher taking over the car for selected rounds later in the year. 2000 would again see the car used by Robson in selected rounds of the Australian Super Touring Championship. In 2003 the car was acquired by its current owner Lindsay O’Donnell and restored back to 1993 Italian livery. Lindsay and son Mathew would drive the car at various New Zealand endurance and classic events. In 2015 the car was restored again returning it to its iconic 1994 Championship winning Benson & Hedges livery.
